The Kitzes Lab at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Assistant to contribute to analysis of acoustic biodiversity data sets.
The main responsibilities of this position will be to (a) assist in the development of acoustic recorder hardware, (b) manage large acoustic data sets collected by the lab, (c) create and apply machine learning models to analyze data on local, cluster, and cloud hardware, and (d) interpret the results of these analyses in manuscripts and other communications.
We are specifically hoping to find candidates with a solid programming background (Python preferred, other languages acceptable) who have demonstrated interest machine learning and/or bioacoustics and/or spatial ecology. The research topics in our lab are broad, and the newly hired person will have the opportunity to contribute broadly to field work, model development, data analysis, manuscript writing, and other related tasks.
